Surprising questions to ask during perimenopause and #menopause How's your handstrength? How's your bloodsugar/A1C? Great share from The Menopause Society #womenshealth
A new study suggests a link between handgrip strength and diabetes risk in postmenopausal women. While diabetes is typically associated with excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, and blurred vision, the study suggests that a weaker handgrip may be a risk factor. Declining estrogen levels during the menopause transition contribute to a wide array of adverse health problems, including issues with insulin resistance and a reduction in lean mass that is correlated with muscle strength and power. Study results are published Menopause, the journal of The Menopause Society: “Handgrip strength and diabetes in postmenopausal women: insights from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2014-2019.” For more information, visit: https://lnkd.in/g-3P-fw6 #MenopauseSymptoms #Diabetes #Midlife #WomensHealthMatters #MidlifeWomen #TheMenopauseSociety
